Zombie Playground Looks Like a Really Cool Project

Honestly, I kind of started to get bored with all these Kickstarter campaigns: everybody seems to need a lot of money to do something that looks really crappy. But when I found about Zombie Playground, I really had a change of heart because this game looks incredibly awesome!

Here’s the story, put short: “In Zombie Playground you take on the role of a kid during a zombie apocalypse as seen through his or her imagination. Your school is overrun by the undead, and it’s up to you and your friends to do whatever it takes to survive!

Zombie Playground is an online, team based, action arena game with RPG elements. Gameplay will be deep, challenging, and rewarding. The game combines childhood nostalgia with horrific monsters, visceral combat, and a unique atmosphere straight out of a child’s nightmares. We do want to make it very clear: this is not a game for kids!”

The art of Zombie Playground is illustrated by Jason Chan who proves that he is extremely skilled. I simply love the first images and concept art – and I invite you to check them out below:

If you want to find out more about Zombie Playground, good news – their kickstarter was a big success, and the game is still going strong. You can check out their website here.

The Walking Dead Season 3 Character First Look: Michonne!

At the end of the second season of The Walking Dead, we got just a short glimpse at one of the upcoming characters of the series: Michonne. Now it has been officially confirmed by the producers of the show that katana-wielding Michonne will be played by Danai Guira. Even better, we have a photo of it and she looks amazing!

Executive producer Robert Kirkman told Entertainment Weekly: “The essence of the character — her personality, her motives, everything that makes Michonne Michonne — remains intact from the comics. But like a lot of things on the show, there will be little tweaks and differences here and there. We saw that her introduction is slightly different from how it was in the comic, and her interaction with Andrea is really going to be a really cool addition to the character that I think will get television viewers up to speed, and they’ll get to know her a lot faster than comic book readers did.”

And she certainly looks good and you can check out the first look at Michonne in The Walking Dead. We’ll see her in Season 3, soon!

What do you think about Michonne?

Zynga Use Zombies to Promote Zombie Swipeout iPhone Game

You’ve got to love it when a games company invests some thought in how to promote a product they’re about to launch and FarmVille-maker Zynga surely proved that they take things seriously. (photos below)

The company plans to launch an iPhone game, Zombie Swipeout, which is something like the popular Fruit Ninja game, but with zombies, which already makes it better in my opinion.

However, it’s not the game that I am here to discuss, but the way Zynga decided to promote it: they started by sending three zombies over at the offices of Games.com, having a box of Blood Pop ice cream. Amazing!

The costumes were also amazing, as well as the make-up. What makes it even better, if you live in Manhattan or San Francisco, is that you have a chance to see the zombies yourself because Zynga really gets serious when it comes to promotion. And coolness, clearly.

Check out the amazing photos of Zombies promoting Zombie Swipeout:

In The Flesh Zombie Series in Development at BBC

I am glad to see that big TV networks start to pay a bit more attention to the zombie genre and the latest to join the ranks, probably encouraged by the success of The Walking Dead, is BBC. They are planning to start a new TV series called In The Flesh and I must admit that the premise is extremely interesting!

Here is how BBC themselves describe In The Flesh:

New writer Dominic Mitchell’s first TV commission was developed by the BBC Drama Production team in Salford and discovered through ‘Northern Voices’, a BBC Writersroom competition.

His script begins after the Zombie Uprising has been quelled by the Human Volunteer Force and life is starting to return to normal. Any surviving zombies have been captured, medicated, held in an NHS holding facility in Norfolk and are being slowly re-integrated back into society, with the help of contact lenses and cover up mousse. The story follows teenager Kieran Walker and boldly goes where no zombie drama has gone before.

I never was a fan of the idea of trying to re-integrate zombies into society, but things could always go really wrong and I have a feeling that they will. Also, I am pretty encouraged by In The Flesh and UK zombie movies especially since a while ago BBC delivered the amazing Dead Set.

Zombie Game: Which Celebrities Would Join You in a Zombie Apocalypse?

Well, if the zombie apocalypse will come right now and you would have to team up with some celebrities, probably they wouldn’t really be the celebrities you wanted (sorry, Chuck Norris fans!).

I have stumbled upon this great birthday game that tells you the team of celebrities you’d be part of in the case of a zombie apocalypse. Check out the image below to decide what your team would look like:

I would have a really hardcore team, actually, since my team of zombie apocalypse survivors would be with Olivia Benson, Kim Kardashian and Sephiroth.

What about you? How would you survive the zombie apocalypse?

This fun little game could make a great ice-breaker for a zombie party. Of course, the main event would be Escape Room Z – the printable zombie escape room game that is absolutely thrilling! I played it for a game night one weekend with my friends, and we all loved it! Check out my game playthrough for yourself here.

Zombie Invasion in Prague. Check Out the Photos!

Zombies have invaded Prague! It was not real zombies, obviously, but the fifth edition of the zombie parade that takes place every year in Prague, Czech Republic. This year, because of very poor weather conditions, there were just around 700 zombies present, but it was still a great show to watch.

The costumes were really great and I really loved how to zombies looked like, and I am sure you want to see for yourself a bit of the greatness of the Zombie Parade in Prague this year, so check out the photos below:

Now you know where yo go if you feel like seeing the live zombies yourself: in Prague, Czech Republic, on May 5th!

…or, just host a zombie party yourself. If you do, I recommend using Escape Room Z as the ‘main event’ – it’s an awesome printable escape room game that makes a perfect party game. I played it for a game night with my friends – you can read my review here.

Kill Zombies in Zombie Last Night Game

Even though I am a fan of more complex zombie related stuff, from movies to books and even video games, every now and then I like to kick off some steam and enjoy a no-brainer. In this case, we are talking about a zombie game (available for free) – Zombie Last Night 2 – where it’s up for you to survive as much as possible and destroy as many zombie hordes as possible. And it’s not that easy!

At first, you are a novice zombie killer, but slowly, even after your death, you become better: you will have the money to spend for a better weapon, for increased stats and speed and health and so on in order to become even better at killing these zombies. Which is fun for a while until you get bored by the same mechanics and outnumbered by the zombies.

But it is fun while it lasts and if you want to, you can give Zombie Last Night 2 a try here. It’s free!

Map of the Dead: Google Maps for the Zombie Apocalypse

If it ever happens for the Zombie Apocalypse to hit, then you certainly want to have Map of the Dead bookmarked in order to access it quickly, as long as it is still possible.

[quads id=1]

This application uses Google Maps and turns it into a Zombie Apocalypse map, outlining the danger zones (places you don’t want to be in when the zombies get back to life) as well as stores that would be of particular interest to you: gas stations, gun shops, grocery stores, pharmacy and so on. Basically, it’s a map that has the most important places in case of an apocalypse marked. Here’s an example of a bit of Map of the Dead:

Unfortunately, the map is far from being complete and probably the Zombie apocalypse will still catch it incomplete, but it’s better than nothing. Obviously, the US map is better filled with information – but mostly for the larger cities, but hopefully if people worldwide start updating it it will soon become a really useful compendium in case of a zombie apocalypse. Pretty fun.

If you’re curious to check out the Map of the Dead, hit the link and enjoy!
