The Walking Dead Game Coming to Facebook

Fans of The Walking Dead should not be too sad with the season break: a Walking Dead game will come to Facebook pretty soon (in April) and we’ll be allowed to live the post-apocalyptic life in the zombie infected world that we know from the show.

The game, however, will not allow us to play as characters from the TV show, even though we are promised to meet Rick and the company during our playing time.

But probably we won’t even have that much time to chat and interact with them, because The Walking Dead game on Facebook will challenge us to build a base camp and head over with a group of survivors to gather supplies to make sure we don’t die of hunger.

Of course, walkers will be lurking around everywhere and killing them will be the main attraction, plus a series of tactical decisions that we’ll have to make, like choosing between ranged and melee weapons, choosing to keep the teams tight or spread the men and women and so on. Probably it will all be very impressive.

You can check out the first Walking Dead Facebook game screenshots below, for some pretty nice zombie killing action:

As I said, the Walking Dead game comes to Facebook in April, so make sure to start playing it as soon as it’s out!

The 10 Best Zombie Board Games for You to Enjoy

While we wait for the zombie apocalypse to come and battle for survival in real life, we can certainly get prepared and entertained at the same time by playing some zombie board games.

I am a huge fan of board games (and obviously zombies) and therefore I have decided to share with you a list of the 10 best Zombie Board games that you should play with your friends.

I have decided not to place these zombie board games in a specific order – they are all extremely fun and enjoyable and I am sure you’ll love playing them all. Check out the list below and let me know if you agree that these are the 10 Best Zombie Board Games ever!

Escape Room Z

zombies-escape-tmb-600x

This is technically not a board game, but I’d say it’s even better!

Escape Room Z is a printable escape room game made by Lock Paper Scissors. True to the spirit of escape rooms, Escape Room Z is a challenging puzzler that takes a team of 3-6 people up to one hour to solve (you could play it with just two, or even by yourself, but you’d have to be pretty clever to solve all the puzzles in time!).

The aim of this whimsical, but challenging game is to recover your pizza, unlock the gun cabinet, and escape the zombie horde before they can devour you, and your pizza, whole! (of course, the game works even better if you order a real pizza as a prize…)

This makes for the perfect main event of a zombie party, or for an excitingly novel zombie game night – because it’s also completely customisable, and scalable to any number of players.

If you’re looking for a new experience beyond traditional board games, I can’t recommend Escape Room Z highly enough. Want more info? You can check out my playthrough of the game here.

The Walking Dead Board Game

Even though most of the popularity of this zombies board game comes from the fact that it’s based on the hit TV series, The Walking Dead Board Game is actually a pretty solid title. Even better, you can play as the zombies too, not only as the survivors and I am sure you’ll love creating alliances with other players, blow zombie heads with shotguns and fight to make it back to camp alive. High replayability value, each game lasts around 1 hour and can be played by 2 to 4 players. Click here to get The Walking Dead Board Game and find out more about it.

Last Night On Earth – The Zombie Game

A modular board game that can be played by up to six players and lasts between 60 and 90 minutes, Last Night on Earth offers a truly cinematic experience to players: as the Heroes, you will be fighting against the hordes of zombies to make it through the night or, if you prefer, you can play as the enemy and do your best to stop the heroes. The game comes with several scenarios that change the game so replay value is really high, making this board game one of the best zombie ones out there. Click here to find out more about Last Night On Earth – The Zombie Game.

Zombies!!!

Probably one of the best known and most successful Zombie board games, Zombies!!! (which also has a ton of expansions for you to try) puts you in the middle of the action as you try to escape the ever advancing zombie horde. Players must use a combination of wits and brawn to be the first to the heliport and certain escape. The only problem is, the zombies are everywhere, they appear to be very hungry and your opponents would really prefer if you didn’t escape. Games can last up to two hours and the base game can be played by up to 6 players. Click here to get and find out more about the amazing board game Zombies!!!

Zombie Survival (The Board Game)

An amazing, true zombie survival game. The mysterious event that has animated the dead has also given them an unhealthy hunger… for brains! The only way to survive is to fortify your house and make your stand. How long can you survive? In Zombie Survival, you choose your provisions to survive a zombie apocalypse. Each player selects items to place in their house, including weapons, lumber, gas, first aid, etc. Then the game brings your fears to light as the zombies start heading towards your house, tearing down your barricades and creeping in. You may have a chance to make it to town for some additional supplies, hopefully avoiding the zombies there, leaving your family to defend against the walking dead. Did you prepare for the possible power outage, contaminated water, sickness and fatigue? How long can you feed your family and keep them healthy? Only the best prepared will survive to win! Click here for more details about Zombie Survival (The Board Game)

MidEvil Deluxe

A spin-off (there are very few of these in the world of board games), MidEvil Deluxe is based on Zombies!!! – the survivors have escaped, only to find themselves facing other dangers. Although this is not really a zombies board game, it fits the description of the undead (you battle skeletons here) and is really fun! Check out Amazon’s page for MidEvil Deluxe for more details.

Zombie State: Diplomacy Of The Dead

You are the world leader of a group of nations. Each turn zombies feed and randomly spread throughout your territory quickly reducing your population and increasing the number of zombies. At the beginning of the game you have no technologies or military that are effective against the viral threat on a worldwide scale. Each turn you must maximize the use of resources to draft and use military test technologies and then strategically use these successfully tested technologies. As the game progresses outbreaks and the spread of zombies makes the game more difficult through a loss of population resources and freedom to act. Find out more here.

Zombie Town

The dead are rising from the graveyard which is conveniently located in the middle of your residential neighborhood. There is no way out of the neighborhood, so you must scrounge as much stuff (weapons, barricades, survivors, etc.) from your neighbors to survive until help arrives. The game lasts for 10 days, and by the 10th day the neighborhood is filled with zombies to say the least and your neighbors are no longer your friends. A minimum of three players is required to play the game (max 6) and you can find out more about Zombie Town on Amazon.

All Things Zombie

Each counter represents one survivor or one zombie. You choose your star, your mini-me if you will, and arm him or her with one of four weapon types. But you are not alone as you then recruit a fewother survivors to form your group. Then it is off to explore a beautifully detailed map representing deserted cities, suburbs, and rural areas. But are they really deserted? Not if you count thezombies, the seemingly endless hordes of zombies. But soon you realize that the zombies may be the least of your worries as you run into other survivors. Are they friendly or hostile? Well, the game mechanics determine that. With luck you can recruit them to use in future games. But sometimes it spins out of control. Which leads us to combat. There is two ways to have combat in ATZ. Trust me on this shooting is what you want to do. Yes, when facing one zombie it is easy to handle him in hand-to-hand combat but get them in bunches and that is when they are really dangerous. Better to shoot them from afar. Find out more about All Things Zombie here.

Zombiegeddon

Reiner Knizia’s Zombiegeddon is a fast-paced, perfect-information, strategy game. Each player spends the first half of the game rushing around the board collecting supplies and trying to stop your pesky neighbors from taking stuff that is rightfully yours. (At least as far as you are concerned!) The second half of the game is spent trying to survive. Sure there is some good stuff around, but it certainly isn’t plentiful and let’s face it, everyone is still trying to take it before you do! (Whoever has the most stuff at the end of the game wins!) Sounds nice? Then get the game here.

And there you have it – the list of the best 10 zombie board games out there. If you are wondering why on earth there are just 9 games listed, it’s very simple: the last one was eaten by zombies and didn’t make it! 🙂

Now let us know which of these great zombie board games is your favorite!
Psst…. If you’ve fallen in love with board games, check these ones out. Before long, you’ll be a hopeless board game zombie too!

Action Figures for the Zombie Fans: Incredible Hulk Zombie, Spiderman Zombie, Captain America Zombie

I don’t know if there could be any better gift for a zombie fan than any of these action figures (or all) showing our favorite Marvel superheroes zombified. Yes, we’re talking about zombie versions of the Incredible Hulk, Spiderman or Captain America. They’re gritty, they’re scary and they’re rotten. Amazing!

They’d look freakishly great sitting on your desk, or watching over your bed from your shelf… but they’d also make great little ornaments to theme-up the room for a zombie party. (Of course, if you’re having a zombie party, I highly recommend using Escape Room Z as your ‘main event’. It’s a printable zombie escape room game that is just super fun. You can read all about my experience with the game here.)

All these three zombie versions of the popular superheroes are available for purchase from Amazon and you can check them out by clicking on the links below. I also attached pictures to show you how incredible these zombie action figures are.

Zombie Incredible Hulk

Designed by Marvel Toys and sculpted by Dig Deep Entertainment, Zombie Hulk combines an endless hunger with decaying flesh as only a zombie can.

Zombie Spiderman

7-inch tall action figure features decaying flesh, exposed bone, and removable limbs.

Zombie Captain America

Decaying flesh, exposed bone and removable skullcap: this is Zombie Captain America!

Make sure you get these as the supply lasts! A perfect gift for you if you’re a zombie freak or for anybody who loves zombies (if he or she is also a Marvel fan, then you hit the Jackpot!)

Grave Mania: Undead Fever Is a Fun & Zany Zombie Game

Grave Mania: Undead Fever is a casual game that was just released over at Big Fish games and comes with a really interesting and funny story to keep us going (and some equally fun and zany graphics, as you can see in the image):

The dead started to rise in Grave Mania: Undead Fever and normally, this means that funeral parlor Funeraria Loca is having its business play dead too. Therefore, it’s your job to “fix” the situation and make sure that the dead remain dead – and send the underground. It’s pretty fun for a concept of a game and I can already see some good comedy zombie movies made based on this idea!

However, Grave Mania: Undead Fever is just a game which can be purchased for as low as $3 on Big Fish Games (click the link to visit it) so if one of your dreams is putting Zombies to rest (like forever), then you have to try out this game. There’s also a free demo for it, so you can have some fun for free too!

Watch This Zombie Gem: Dead Set

Oh, boy! I’m not sure if you watched this mini-series on TV back in 2008 when it was launched, but I only found about it very recently. And I am so glad I did!

[quads id=1]

Dead Set is the name of this TV Series (5 episodes, probably because it would’ve been too long for a full feature movie, even though the entire thing is only about 2 hours long!) and it’s an UK-made series. And it’s absolutely awesome!

The story is pretty simple: while the Zombie Apocalypse breaks loose outside, the contestants inside the Big Brother house have absolutely no idea about what is happening. Soon, things will change though and they will be quite happy to be locked inside the house, barricaded from the chaos happening outside. And their tale of survival begins!

Dead set starts with a pilot that’s 45 minutes long and continues with 4 shorter episodes (20 minutes each) so if you have time, you can easily watch the entire series in one go. I did so, even though I didn’t think I would: however, the series is so well done, the story so nice and the whole thing so believable that you simply can’t stop until the end!

We have some really, really strong characters and each type is really well done – from the annoying Patrick to the stupid Pippa and a story that unfolds quicker than a train going at full speed. The zombies are also there (fast zombies this time) and even though there are no explanations about how it all started, you don’t even feel that there’s a need for that. Basically, everything happens so fast and takes everybody by surprise that you don’t even have time to wonder. Nor do the characters in Dead Set, which probably describes best how things would be during the first few days of the Zombie Apocalypse.

And if you want my opinion, even though this has the potential to spark some controversy, I can say without a pinch of doubt that Dead Set is a lot better than The Walking Dead. We have believable and strong characters, we have ACTION and behaviour we can understand and we have a very solid movie series here. So if you didn’t watch it, do yourself a favor and watch Dead Set now!

Zombie Apocalypse Review

The first thing that convinced me to watch Zombie Apocalypse was the presence of Ving Rhames in the cast: I really like him, and this told me that this movie is not really a poor, low budget zombie flick that will just make me wonder how come somebody created it. And I was right – Zombie Apocalypse is a good zombie movie (don’t expect Triple A class, but expect better than you probably imagine from a movie by The Asylum).

Zombie Apocalypse gets straight to the point – the apocalypse has already happened and the survivors are few and scarce. A group of three friends that just left a survivors camp meets another group that is headed to Catalina island, where they know everything is safe and sound and civilization is rebuilding.

[quads id=1]

This is the main plot line and I won’t say more to make sure I won’t spoil any surprises (there are hardly any, though). What I will say, though, is that the movie reminded me about Z.A. Recht’s Plague of the Dead (The Morningstar Strain) every now and then and that’s a great thing, because I consider this book one of the best zombie books ever written: there are both slow and fast zombies, the outbreak started somewhere far away from the US and zombies seem to have some primitive instincts still going. Again, I can’t say more not to spoil things, but trust me – the connections to Plague of the Dead are a bonus for Zombie Apocalypse.

Of course, there’s a lot of nonsense in the movie too – but the errors can be easily ignored, especially if you’re a fan of zombie movies. You can’t notice, though, that Cassie’s sword cuts heads open immediately, while in other scenes a chainsaw barely manages to cut open a skull. But these are details that won’t matter that much. However, it’s this kind of details that makes the movie just a mediocre one and not outstanding.

Because there’s a lot of potential to Zombie Apocalypse: the acting is pretty decent, the story is nice enough, the characters are mostly believable and even though they lack depth or an evolution throughout the movie, they are quite lovable. The special effects are not really the strongest point of the movie, but they’re of much better quality of what we usually get, and the zombies themselves are very well done and generally believable.

The movie also caters to a younger audience with the weapons used to fight zombies (a huge hammer, a samurai sword, a golf club and so on) and it really is surprisingly good: at least a lot better than I expected it to be, which I consider already a solid bonus for Zombie Apocalypse.

So yes, if you are a zombie fan, then most likely Zombie Apocalypse will be one of those movies you’ll enjoy watching. The story unfolds nicely and has a proper ending – something very few zombie movies or books tend to have, and this is for me a huge bonus. Therefore, make sure you don’t miss this one out!

Zombie Short: Fear of the Living Dead

I just stumbled upon this short movie, Fear of the Living Dead and I decided to share it with you, especially since it’s free to watch and has something that we all like: zombies.

It all starts pretty nicely: a woman, an axe and some solid zombie bashing but evolves soon into something I don’t necessarily like – or ends with that. Yes, I don’t want to spoil things, but I didn’t really like the ending.

However, Fear of the Living Dead is clearly a worth seeing flick – it’s just 15 minutes long and even though we’re not talking about Oscar quality stuff here, it has its moments. So check out this zombie short below:

I Love the Walking Dead Poster

Everybody loves The Walking Dead – that’s something obvious judging just from the huge success the TV series is having, and everything related to The Walking Dead seems to be a hit.

Therefore, there should be no surprise to see that somebody decided to create an “I Love the Walking Dead” poster. Surprising is the fact that the Brazilian artist Gabriel Marques, who designed the poster, managed to do it flawlessly and created a truly amazing poster.

Check out the I Heart the Walking Dead poster below:

And there’s a bonus, another Walking Dead themed poster created by the same Gabriel Marques:

Hopefully, we’ll get to see more from him in the near future.

Exit Humanity Trailer Brings Zombies to the Civil War

I’m not necessarily a fan of zombie movies set in the past simply because they lose credibility (even though for many zombies themselves come with a lack of credibility), but this trailer for the upcoming Exit Humanity seems pretty impressive.

Set in the times of the Civil War, Exit Humanity tells, according to the plot summary, the story of a “young man’s struggle to survive in the aftermath of a deadly undead outbreak”. So expect to see zombies, two sides amongst which one seems to be even worse than the zombies and overall a pretty exciting movie. I, personally, can’t expect to get my hands on it and check it out.

Pretty impressive!

Dani Baro’s Amazing Zombie House

Dani Baro is an amazing dude. In case you didn’t hear about him, he’s the one that decided to create his own anti-zombie or zombie survival house – he calls it the “anti zombie bunker” – in case something wrong happens. And even if it doesn’t that bunker looks like an amazing place to live in.

[quads id=1]

His bunker is surrounded by a wall that’s three meters thick and had everything one would need in case a zombie apocalypse comes from ’round the corner: enough water, food and storage space for weapons to last a single human being for 6 months without having to leave the facility once. There’s also a tuned and tweaked truck ready to go bashing through the zombies, an emergency exit area, a yard for cultivating vegetables (and probably raising some animals), maps, radios and even a crematory to burn all those living dead that get too close. In other words, dude’s got everything inside!

I am completely fascinated by this project – Dani’s been working at his anti-zombies bunker for some time now and the project is still unfinished – and I really hope that some day he will manage to get it done. If he manages to bring in some solar power for electricity, I am sure that he’ll be the owner of a real gem, no matter if a zombie apocalypse kicks in.

Check out below some more images of the amazing anti-zombie bunker made by Dani Baro, somewhere near Barcelona, Spain:

The entrance of the anti-zombies bunker

Some of the food supplies in the kitchen

Water storage containers and the cool 4×4

More of the modified 4×4

What do you think about this anti-zombie house?

I know I for one would be sitting pretty inside, playing all the zombie games I could get my hands on!
